Cucamonga Peak, California Cucamonga Peak is a summit located in San Bernardino County, CA at N34.22278° W117.58505° (NAD83) and at an elevation of 8841 ft MSL. A few brave folks met me at the Vons on Baseline Road in Claremont, CA at 6 AM in order to head up to Ice House Canyon to hike to the saddle and then to Cucamonga Peak. In the first couple miles, much of the trail surface has uneven footing and loose rocks, fallen from the steep scree slopes or along the route where the trail follows over or near the creek bed. Any outdoors activity can be challenging, fun, or a painful experience, (often depending who you are with), even deadly and more painful depending on you, your abilities, circumstances and sometimes just bad luck. It can be busy during the summer months and of course on weekends, although you do need to be in decent physical shape to hike to the top.
